Nagoya karate School

We encourage parent-child classes where you can practice together with your children. Through karate, you can make not only your body but also your mind healthy and strong.

This is what makes my dojo different

01.What I teach is not karate. What I teach is [how to live]

At my dojo, karate is just a means to train the ability to think for oneself.
Our goal is to develop people who are interested in and question everything, and who can solve problems while having fun.

02. Karate is not something you learn in order to defeat others

All karate forms start with "defense." In other words, this is proof that karate strictly prohibits "attacking" first. Similarly, posing in celebration after winning a match is nothing but disrespectful in martial arts. Karate should be seen as a last resort to protect yourself or your loved ones.

 03. Don't get caught up in small things, but improve your "human skills"
and hone your flexible problem-solving skills

It takes "spirit" to calm your mind and see things from a bird's-eye view. To do this, you need to hone your "human power" by not getting caught up in small things, eliminating unnecessary things, seeing the essence of things, and making calm decisions.

04 Karate begins and ends with courtesy.
Strength without courtesy is just violence!!

Justice without power is "powerless." Conversely, power without justice is "violence." By training in karate, you will acquire the strength to defeat an opponent with one blow. The stronger your strength, the more you need strong self-restraint (endurance) to contain that strength, and acquiring this ability is the purpose of training in karate.

05 Say goodbye to chronic body pain and frailty,
and become a cool adult who doesn't use age as an excuse!

By strengthening your core and muscles, you can maintain a body that is younger than your age. When your body is healthy, your mind will also be healthy. If your body and mind are healthy, things will naturally go well. Many modern people are not able to do something that is obvious. If you feel that you are not getting enough exercise on a daily basis, please come try out the dojo and aim to become a "cool adult" that can hold its own against the young.

06 Improve concentration and patience

In karate, we take the time to do thorough "basic training" before each kata and kumite practice. This is not limited to karate, but people who do not have a good grasp of the basics will not be successful in anything, including studying, work, parent-child relationships, and friendships. At my dojo, we teach the basics thoroughly. By doing so, students will naturally acquire concentration and perseverance.

07 You can learn not only karate but also ancient martial arts「KOBUDO」

At my dojo, we teach not only "karate" but also "kobudo" using weapons such as Bo, Nnunchucks, Tonfas, Sai, and Kama. It is especially popular with seniors and women.

Achievements [Produced many winners at national competitions]
Instructed by the winner of the “Black Belt Kata” category at the national tournament for 4 consecutive years

At the annual National Karate Tournament, my dojo has produced many top prize winners every year. Currently, the person in charge of teaching at the Chikusa dojo is the winner of the national tournament's black belt kata division for four consecutive years.

Okochi Kazuki 3th Dan Shihan
2008: Moved to Milan, Italy

2021: Graduated from the Department of Architecture, Politecnico di Milano

Started learning karate at the age of 3.

Active for 17 years from 2003 to 2019, he won numerous consecutive victories at the Japanese National Championships and the European Karate Championships. Furthermore, he won four consecutive championships at the National Karate Championships [Black Belt Division] from 2015 to 2019, after which he retired from competing and became a coach.

Now recruiting introductory students!

At the Nagoya Dojo, people aged 5 and over can join.
We are currently recruiting people who are interested in martial arts.
If you are a parent and child who would like to learn martial arts together, if you would like to make up for a lack of exercise in your daily life, or if you would like to learn martial arts as a self-defense technique, we will provide careful instruction starting from the basics, so please come and try it out.

Children/parent-child course

At my dojo, we encourage parents and children to work up a sweat together in parent-child karate. If a child joins, the monthly tuition fee is free for the parents. There are many parents and children who joined my dojo when their children were toddlers and continue to attend even after they become high school and college students. I think it's wonderful that they can continue to communicate over the same topic of karate.

Adult/Senior Course

Karate is a martial art that can be practiced throughout one's life. I have a student at my dojo who is 85 years old. Whatever you do, the most important thing is to have a healthy body.

Kobudo Course

We teach traditional martial arts using traditional Ryukyu weapons.
Not only is it a great form of self-defense, it also strengthens the wrists, improves balance between the left and right sides of the body, and strengthens the core.
